Keystone Cleanup
Bursting at the seams, Keystone, a local agency that assists clients with substance abuse issues, was able to purchase a new building into which they could expand their teen and young adult programs. The agency has transformed an abandoned medical office building into a safe, modern and festively-decorated facility to provide much needed services to youth struggling with substance abuse. When it came to the exterior areas of the facility, Keystone turned to Comporium and the Pioneer Club for help creating an active area where the youth could enjoy a secure and fun outdoor environment during their down time.
A joint effort to reshape the outdoor space surrounding the facility was undertaken by the combined team of Facilities and Construction, Network, Installation and Repair and the Pioneer Club. The first steps took place involving removing the existing landscaping around the facility. Volunteers worked over several days to remove shrubs, trees and other plants to create a clean palette for future projects. The Facilities and Construction group will resume the work in the spring with their annual community improvement project. At that time, they will be creating an outdoor picnic area, a basketball court, a grilling area and beginning the work of replanting around the building.
