125 STORIES IN 125 DAYS
Of all the projects I have worked on over the years, I think my favorite was working on the team bringing Citizens Telephone in Brevard, NC, into the Comporium family. From scouting missions to check out the company and the area, all the way to integrating the accounting system, it was such a privilege to get to know the Brevard employees, not to mention work alongside York County Comporium employees from different departments. The Brevard folks invited the transition team and their families up for the town’s annual White Squirrel Festival that first year. The Rock Hill plant and the Brevard plant had a friendly competition to each build soap-box derby cars for the signature “Squirrel Box Derby” event. They definitely outdid themselves with the Brevard team building a super-hip black truck style, and the Rock Hill team building a sleek dragster style. My sons loved cheering them on, and if memory serves, Comporium dominated by taking first AND second place.
